First Annual Irwin Fun Run
WHEN: Friday morning, October 24, 2014
WHERE: Irwin Academic Center Field
WHAT IS THE FUN RUN?
The Fun Run is a school wide community event and this year we are trying to help our teachers reach their POTENTIAL as we are raising funds for Professional Development and to “up fit” our media center. It is set up like a walk-a-thon where friends, relatives, and co-workers sponsor our students as they make their way around our Fun Run Track for 25 minutes. But the Fun Run is so much more than just a fundraiser. We are promoting fitness and family fun! Our Irwin families are encouraged to help our students by promoting healthy choices, exercising daily, and engaging in healthy living.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Each student is asked to collect pledges for the Fun Run. Sponsors may pledge a “flat
amount” for participation or they may pledge a “per lap” amount where the total
donation is determined by the number of laps run. For example, if Grandma Jane
pledges $1 per lap and Josh runs 25 laps, then Grandma Jane donates $25 to Irwin
Academic Center. Students will complete an average of 15 to 30 laps.
DONATIONS: All donations must be turned to your child’s teacher by November 7 to
be eligible for the Fun Run prizes. Flat amount donations can also be accepted via
the Owl Store.
IN CASE OF RAIN: If it is overcast or there is a light drizzle, we will still run. If there is
pouring rain, we have a rain date scheduled for Thursday, October 30.
VOLUNTEERS: We will need LOTS of volunteers to help on the day of the FUN RUN
as well as volunteers to let us borrow coolers of ice (dropped off that morning to the
school) or donations of 8 oz. bottles of water for our little owl runners.

Monday: Mustache Monday (paint, draw, glue or wear a mustache)
Tuesday: Sports team wear (your favorite team wear)
Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday (wacky hair, hat, clothes, etc.)
Thursday: Spirit Day (spirit wear and Nothing but noodles night)
Friday: Fun Run day!!
